technology -vs- relationship

as of this morning i have over 800 friends on facebook! wow, i must be quite the social butterfly right? i am not questioning whether any of these amazing 800 are true friends, there is no doubt in my mind that i share some commonality with each and every one of them. my question today is not about the "friends" contest but of the true cost of the technology that brings us so close and yet so far.
when i am having a face to face with my husband i can see the emotion or lack of emotion in his eyes ( i can tell when he is really listening or just biding his time until i run out of words) it could be awhile ;o).
when my daughter is talking about her day at school there is so much more said in her expressions than in just her words.
i am not saying here that i don't value all the technology as i sit at my mac and write, what i am trying to say is that God created us to be relational, to have face to face interaction. the scene when the women sits at His feet and washes them with her tears is only beautiful because we can "see" it in our mind's eye.

here is the texting version : washing JC's feet. :( crying.
                                            wow! why r u crying? :(
just a lil emo today...lol ttfn.
not exactly the picture of sacrifice and love we get in the actual word, right?  i have a theory here that i have pondered and prayed about alot....
ready? here goes. i believe that the further we get from each other the further we get from our God. stick with me a bit here...all the way back to the garden of eden, when man and woman took their eyes away from God all hell broke loose literally! when peter walked on the water he could until he took his eyes away from Jesus! when we walk thru our day and have no communication with our Creator, how often do we fail?  in my case, always!
i have always been a relational being. the best times in my life have always been linked to a face to face encounter with one of my many friends. when my husband looks me in the eyes and says "i love you" it is soooo much more than texting it.
so here is my wish for you today and for the rest of your life...go out today and get face to face with someone, look into their eyes and see what they feel, sit with your kid and have a face to face with them and watch the excitement in their eyes as they get that they matter to you, turn off the tv in your bedroom and just chat...who knows where you might land?
wash the feet of someone you love, it may just remind you and them of the closeness we are designed for.
