let's chat...
so never mind all the fluff on tv about this candidate or the other. let's take a hard look at why we vote for the people we vote for. i'll go first.
i grew up in new Mexico Hispanic, democrat, and catholic. to be honest i never questioned why i voted the way i did, until i landed up working for a state agency-income support division, and being a single parent. i learned to be extremely liberal based on 2 things; the assumption that all our funding came from the state government and that i worked for 2 out of the closet lesbians, who were bent on convincing me that i too was a lesbian. so in my case i voted my ethnicity, religion and need to keep my job.
it wasn't until i landed on the other end of the deal, fired, nearly homeless, job hunting, and broke that i realized that i needed to question why i voted the way i did. where did all the state money go when i needed it? how was i going to feed my kids on my highly held beliefs? where were all my democrat catholic Hispanic friends when i needed to find food for my kids or a place to live? everything i applied for i made too much money based on the last 6months income.
enough of my stuff...
how do you decide how to vote?
is it based on looks? you might say "no-way" but did you know that Ross Peroe was not taken seriously based solely on the fact that he was not "presidential looking"?
is it based on last name? did you know that there are agencies that will evaluate your chances for winning a race based solely on your last name?
do you vote based on your parents politics?
sounds silly but 90% of voters admit that they cannot remember any of the issues their candidate ran on.
"hope and change" got the most Americans to vote in half a century, yet when asked what "hope and change" meant, there was no consensus. that campaign slogan was extremely hard to nail down and therefor very successful.
did you know that when we vote for a "bond issue" that we are giving the gov. permission to use money previously taken from us for a specific project in taxes, to use for a completely different project. if you or i did that it would be called mis-appropriation of funds! are you really ok with that?
did you know that in new Mexico we spend more per student on education than most of the other 50, and that more than 1/2 of the state budget goes to education and that for all that money we still land in the bottom 5 for literacy?
if i give you $10.00 to invest for me and you come to me and say "ok i invested your $10.00 and now you owe me $5.00 more because what i invested your money in just didn't work out." so now i have lost/invested $15.00...think seriously about this, how much are you willing to sink into an investment that is a losing deal before you would say "hey i want to see some results for my investment?"
throwing money at a problem does not solve anything , if that were the case then our students would be excelling in not only literacy, but on every level!
the money that is spent and wasted in this state is shameful.
what would happen to you if you started a business and acquired investors to start up your business and then ran that business straight into the ditch? do you think your investors would continue to invest? and do you think you would be able to get a bank to lend you money based on your business' history of failure? that is exactly what we are doing when we continue to pour more money into a failing educational system.
the definition of insanity is "continuing to do the same thing over and over again but expecting different results" ...are we insane or just uninformed?
some facts....
*martin Heinrich did not keep the tacos at kirtland-they left in September
*bill Richardson is from California-Susana Martinez is from Texas
*our education system in new Mexico is failing by any standard
*our un-wed pregnancy rate is in the top ten.
*our state is over-whelming-ly democrat
*our state is not only broke but in the red by millions
*bond issues are a permission slip to mis-use our money
*martin Heinrich is a paid lobbyist.
*the military insures your right to be a passivist, liberal, democrat and me to be a born-again, Hispanic, republican and also your right to tell me I'm full of crap!
